Gardening Workbenches
The science curriculum
at Key Stage 1 requires the study of life processes and living things, specifically
the growing of plants. It is essential for children to appreciate that plants
need light and water to grow, and to be able to recognise the leaf, flower, stem
and root of flowering plants. It is important for children to investigate the
conditions that plants require for growth. To meet this requirement a suite of
3 gardening workbenches has been developed.
The Mixing Bench has a removable and washable bowl for mixing
soil and compost; the Potting and Tool Bench provides storage for a range of tools
and space to pot plants; and the Seed Tray Planting Bench comes with 4 seed trays,
and a slatted top and shelf to allow excess water to drain away whilst watching
plants grow and flower. Manufactured in Swedish pine.
