Wood blocks with bark and bark-less pieces are an exciting resource
that promotes imaginative role-play, small world play, creativity, literacy and
collaborative learning - a very natural and very different way for children to
play, build and investigate.
Each set is unique and contains 40 pieces cut from tree branches,
including platform pieces and other challenging shapes. The pieces vary naturally
in diameter but are 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10cm long with parallel ends; the bark is not
removed.
Children quickly learn how to combine the modular pieces to
create supportive columns of equal height. By placing platform pieces across the
columns they investigate balance and stability.
Imaginative young minds will see endless combinations and possibilities,
perhaps using the two A3 pieces of felt as a roof or floor covering for shelters.
The pieces of wood are supplied in a tough, practical drawstring
bag with ideas and information leaflet.
Note: this product is manufactured from un-trimmed, responsibly
harvested wood and pieces of bark may become detached; the product is therefore
not recommended for children under 3 years of age. |
